Long pipe-work and pumping stations will also have to be installed, involving long periods of disruption for the people of Boscastle during peak tourist season. The stretches of pipe-work must be dosed with chemicals to keep them free-flowing.
According to our information, a combined scheme to serve Boscastle and Tintagel will result in considerably increased CO2 emissions compared with two smaller treatment works within the boundaries of the respective parishes. This would have less impact on the coastline and require much shorter runs of pipe-work: indeed pipe-work has already been laid on the Bude road leading out of Boscastle to serve a separate site, and planning policy clearly states that such installations should be as close as possible to the communities they will serve, not extended into the open countryside.
The ancient Manor of Trevalga, a separate, distinct and unspoilt parish, is not connected to mains water or sewage; i.e. completely independent of SWW, and our neighbouring community of Trethevy is not connected to mains sewage. If you would like to help prevent scar this beautiful stretch of coastline with a construction which, once security fencing is erected, will resemble a prison camp, from going ahead.
